Blackridge Pastels Exhibition

Event: Solo exhibition of pastel drawings by Kobie Venter
Venue: Old family home in Blackridge, Pietermaritzburg
Date: 2003

In 2003 Kobie created a set of pastel drawings on paper. These, all based on images from the suburb Blackridge, where she lived with her family, were exhibited in her home and studio. These Blackridge Pastels were mostly executed on portrait format, which is unusual for landscapes. The scenes captured the foliage and trees of Blackridge, juxtaposed with snippets of architectural structures such as walls and fences. The exhibition was opened by Brendan Bell and the architect of House Venter, Michael Dyer, was also present. Most of the art works were sold on the opening day.
